Navigating the Seasons Change
“How do you navigate the seasons changing without falling apart?”
As I meditate on this question, I don’t think there is a guaranteed solution. I don’t believe we will ever fully understand why things happen, but I’ve made peace with that because I realize for myself it’s not necessarily about the solution, but the process.
This moment
I know it’s tiring to have to fight yet another battle, another injustice, another empire, but we owe it to ourselves, our past, and our future to survive this moment. And I’m hopeful that as long as we hold true these things, evil will not prevail.
still bloomed
Last year my mother’s Azalea bush didn’t bloom.
It was watered, cared for, and still didn’t bloomIt just sat there barren, no evidence of life
cycles of grief
Life is unpredictable and we don’t always get to control how things play out. All that we know is that the people, connections, and experiences we have are very real in the moments we hold them. We are bound to sing songs of bliss in the good times, and we need songs of grief to carry us through the harder times.
Never Bloomed
This piece is dedicated to anyone who feels like the world can’t hold their grief, but words can. This is for anyone who may not have the safety to express their truth, and instead seek out strength in the truth of others. May we all bloom in supported environments and thrive.
Talk to me nicely
Having an answer won’t always bring the peace that’s needed. Sometimes all the response that’s needed is to feel seen, heard, validated, loved on, held, and valued.
A FAITH OF EVOLUTION: THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLY WEEK
There is a deep importance of sitting with the experience of Jesus entering the city all the way to his crucifixion. Jesus represented a better theology, a better personal and communal ethic, and a better embodiment of love.
I shall not be overcome
While my spirit may glide visibly in the light, the darkest of night speaks to my soul. I can’t have one without the other. Evolution consists of both. May I learn to become fluent in the language of both, so that I shall not be overcome.
The Waves of Chaos
It’s ok to be in this space of darkness and also hope for more. The world may not get it, but you do…You know that it doesn’t take away from your worth and divinity to admit you need help finding your anchor, and not hiding the tears rolling down your face.
Authentic hope
It's ok to not be in hope. In those times sometimes all we can do is trust that although we may not be in a space of hope we're not completely without hope. - Denise Diabb
The intervention of rest
Rest is a divine act and state of being. To be in constant movement doesn’t create productivity. It does not guarantee alignment or the best outcome. It only guarantees motion. Motion is not bad, but sometimes stillness is necessary to be the catalyst for movement.
